President Infinity Beta v. 3.2.1 for Windows and Mac has been released!
This release shows the results of the convention, fixes the primaries ‘lock’ icon being drawn off the map, fixes a bug affecting various things that relied on first or last day of turn, 2020 > updates Republican convention location and Democratic convention dates, and more.
Note: if you have campaigns you have made, it is recommended that you back these up first. Although there should be no problems loading and playing them, this simply errs on the side of caution. If the campaign formatting is unknown, the campaign will be re-written to disk using the new formatting without backing up the original version. If a campaign XML file’s syntax has to be updated, it will backup automatically, however.

Note: a Beta release is a pre-official release, for people wishing to test the product. It is not complete. See notes below. This version will not overwrite your existing official release install, so you can test the Beta release while still playing your previously installed official release.
Version Beta 3.2.1 adds
- Beta version number changed back to shorter version number (ex., 3.2.0.1.1.2 previous version, new one is simply 3.2.1)
- now shown message at start of screen if secure nomination in primaries
- now shows results of convention
- primaries > lock icon > fixed displaying off edge of map
- primaries > lock icon > colour white -> grey
- 2020 > Republican convention > Charlotte, NC -> Jacksonville, FL
- 2020 > Democratic convention > July 13-16 -> August 17-20
- fixed bug affecting various things that relied on first or last day of turn
I am not looking for feedback on the game unless it relates to core game functionality (basic things you can’t do in the game, crashing, bugs, things that obviously don’t look right).
No save-load. No Editor. It may crash or have other bugs.
Installation instructions:
Mac:
Download (see below) and double click on the zip file once downloaded.
1. Right click on the extracted app and select New Terminal at Folder.
2. Copy and paste the following to the terminal line
cd Contents/MacOS
then press enter.
3. Then copy and paste the following to the terminal line
chmod +x *
then press enter.
4. Then control-click on the app. Select ‘Open’ from the context menu (this is required the first time it is run).
Windows: download (see below) the zip file > right-click > Extract all > select location for extracted folder. Once it extracts, run the President Infinity file in the extracted folder.
Windows playing notes: Use Alt + Tab to switch back to your other apps when in the game. If it hangs, use Ctrl + Alt + Del > Task Manager > Processes > Apps > Infinity > right-click > End task.
If you are a President Infinity owner on subscription (or if you purchased President Infinity within the last year), you are eligible for this upgrade (if not, you can add a subscription here).
This is a comprehensive update.

This version continues to make minor updates to the official 2020. For people wanting the latest official 2020, the Beta is now where that will be released.
Expect more significant updates to 2020 going forward.
I paid $5 for the subscription to President Infinity, hoping you had improved the game since I last played in 2018. Turns out, you didn’t. It remains unstable. I played a normal 2020 game — zero changes on my end — and the game crashed due to a “texture” error. Thanks.
@Nick,
Please try the Beta (see instructions above).
Whenever I try to change some of the candidates running to make some “on” and some “off”, I get stuck on with the “creating game” loading screen forever so I am unable to play it. It only works if I don’t change any of the preselected candidates.
What do you mean by no “Save-load”? I can’t save games and then load them to play later on?? I have to play an entire campaign in one sitting? I’m confused
I would like to insert a positive comment about this update. True, It is full-screen (I wish there are non-full screen options as well), but thanks to this update, I’m now able to play the Brazilian game. Thank you!
@IndependentPerson,
Awesome! Thanks for this feedback.
@John,
Yes, save-load is the next major feature to be added. Probably with the next update. Many computers you can simply put in sleep mode, which will allow you to continue the game if desired without having to close down the game.
Also, is there no “spin” option in the game anymore? I dont see where the newspaper headlines are unless it was removed. How else am I supposed to get momentum?
Am I the only one having a problem being done with a turn? When the game loads, and I click on the check mark on the bottom right to presumably end that turn, nothing happens. The screen I’m on (usually the Democratic primary screen) just stays the same, and the turn does not end.
Am I right in assuming the check mark in the bottom right is how you end a turn and advance to the next day/week? And if so, why does nothing happen when I click on it?
Thanks in advance.
@Brandon,
What campaign is this happening with? What are your starting options?
Can you also make an update where when your mouse hovers over an icon, you can see what the name of it is? There are so many buttons in the game and it gets confusing having to guess and check what each one does. Pretty sure the past games had this available.
Also still waiting on whether the newspaper/spin is still in the game. Thank you
Is this the version I need to use if I am running Catalina on Mac? Seems there’s a problem with the ads screen; I can create an ad, but then I can’t find it anywhere to actually deploy it. It just disappears? Wondering if this is an issue maybe with Catalina/I’m using the wrong version. Thanks!
@Ryan,
Can you say more precisely what you’re doing?
Not sure why you’re ignoring me, but my game just froze on January 10th, 2020 at 14% loading. The circle went all the way around but never loaded, and now I can’t even quit the game without shutting down the entire computer.
Save-load now works in the latest internal (not released yet) version. However, it is slow. In a primaries game, you are looking at 1+ minute to save, much more to load. This will probably be how it is in the next release, but I will continue looking at how to speed this up. The core problem is that a game can have a huge number of variables.
@John,
Not ignoring you – for some reason notifications for your comments were going into my spam folder. Thank you for your persistence! 🙂
What is your operating system? Can you confirm the version number? Which campaign are you playing, which player, and do you have any non-default settings for it (players on who by default are off, and so on)?
@John,
Hover help is on the to-do list. Just not a required feature, so hasn’t been at the top yet.
@John,
Spin Screen is still there – just click the Spin button on the Main Screen. It’s not coming up automatically at the beginning of a turn – will probably change that.
It’s the most recent version on a non Catalina and both times on January 14th with Yang the game freezes. Not playable. One time w default settings, the other time started in October both times it froze in mid January
There is a glitch with the issues plank. It comes up center for all candidates and no icons wont let me change the position either.
@John,
Thanks for this – I will attempt to replicate.
@Charlie,
Can you describe more specifically how you create this error?
@Adam,
Thanks for this – I will attempt to recreate. Can you tell me what operating system you are using?
I seem to be having an issue creating a new game, with third parties turned on. If I create a new game with primaries on (and any date) with either a Libertarian or Green canditate turned on the game gets stuck on “Creating game……Please wait” It never gets past this screen.
This happens no matter what date is selected
Happens no matter if the third party candidate is human or computer
This ONLY happens if Primaries are turned ON
@Russell,
Thanks for this – I’ve replicated a problem with 3rd parties starting in the primaries. Should be fixed with the next update.
Works fine until the first primary then the turn doesn’t load? I’ve tried reloading from an earlier save, is there anything i can do?
