President Infinity Beta – v. 1.1.0

President Infinity Beta v. 1.1.0 for Windows and Mac has been released!

This release adds the ability to play user designed campaigns, and fixes a few bugs.

Note: this version has a bug with primaries. An update is coming soon. In the meantime, only try games that start in the general election.

Note: the Mac version has a bug that will only allow the 2020 campaign to run. Update for this also coming soon.

Note: if you have campaigns you have made, it is recommended that you back these up first. Although there should be no problems loading and playing them, this simply errs on the side of caution. If the campaign formatting is unknown, the campaign will be re-written to disk using the new formatting without backing up the original version. If a campaign XML file’s syntax has to be updated, it will backup automatically, however.

Note: a Beta release is a pre-official release, for people wishing to test the product. It is not complete. See notes below. This version will not overwrite your existing official release install, so you can test the Beta release while still playing your previously installed official release.

Version Beta 1.1.0 adds

  • user-designed campaigns now allowed (if downloading new user-designed campaign, will have to manually move into user_scenarios folder for now)
  • if XML file in unknown format, converts to UTF-8 from assumed ISO-8859-1 and rewrites file
  • if problem with XML file, prompts to update
  • backs up campaign folder if updates
  • fixed bug causing United States – 2012 to not load
  • fixed bug resolving endorser ties that would cause game to crash
  • fixed bug where Previous and Next Week buttons were visible in 1 day per turn mode

I am not looking for feedback on the game unless it relates to core game functionality (basic things you can’t do in the game, crashing, bugs, things that obviously don’t look right).

No save-load. No Editor. It may crash or have other bugs.

  1. The strategy screen with all the states and territories on it are broken. You can’t customize the lists, the arrows don’t work, not able to individually target states. It appears to just be a static image at this point.

  2. @Shawn,

Can you tell me what operating system you are using, and steps to create this problem?

  3. Loving these updates! The only thing I’ve noticed is that the news cycle gives the same +/- to all the candidates as it does to the person you’re playing. I don’t know how much that affects the game overall, but after winning the Iowa caucus everyone got the same boost my character did, so it didn’t give me much of a bounce going into NH.

Is that something that’s going to be addressed in future betas?

  4. @Keith,

Thanks for this feedback – I’ll try to replicate this. If I can, it should be fixed for the next Beta update.

  5. @Matt,

Can you link to one that isn’t working, and tell me what exactly happens when you try to select it?

  6. 1.0.9 and this version doesn’t work for mac at all.
You can’t click primaries as when you do it is stuck to the GE selection screen, and when you do get into a GE match it is all glitched out and frozen

  7. This happens only when I changed to another scenario, like 2008. 2020 works (when I don’t change to another one, however again if I do it gets stuck)

  8. doesn’t work for 1.1.0 if I change any people at all it does the frozen glitch screen. Completely unplayable

  9. @TMP,

Can you list specific steps to get the first error on Mac? I can then attempt to recreate.

  10. Literally, none of the user-designed scenarios work. I’m asked to make a backup copy in order to play and then it still doesn’t work.

  11. This version has a bug with primaries. No campaigns seem to advance a turn when primaries is on. Update coming ASAP.

  12. The Mac version has a bug that will only allow the 2020 campaign to run. Update for this also coming ASAP.
