President Infinity – Version Ericson – 2.2.5

President Infinity v. Ericson – 2.2.5 for Windows and Mac has been released!

If you are a President Infinity owner, you are eligible for this upgrade.

Highlights:

This update fixes a bug that occurred when playing a game with certain candidates turned to ‘off’ that by default were ‘on’ (the error message included the phrase ‘Code=49’), sets all 2016 Q4 cash-on-hand numbers according to the FEC, and updates the 2016 primaries debate schedules, in particular.

What’s new in this upgrade

  • fixed bug where if scripted event occurred that specified a certain leader, and that leader wasn’t in game, would crash game (Code=49 error)
  • 2016 > set all leaders’ Q4 (Dec. 31st, 2015) cash-on-hand values according to FEC, except Donald Trump (self-funding)
  • 2016 > Primaries > Dems, Reps > updated debate schedules
  • 2016 > Endorsers > added Glenn Beck
  • 2016 > fixed general election regional % bonuses for certain leaders

This is a comprehensive update.

  1. Off-Topic, but are there plans for a Prime Minister Infinity UK update in the near future? The game engine is lacking behind. (For example the old popup that says “Leader is working on issue knowledge” and stuff like that.)

  2. I’ve been thinking: recently, a poll came out finding a majority of Americans support both raising taxes on high-income earners AND a flat tax. How would that be represented in-game?
For justification, I figure it means most people think the rich are cheating on their taxes by hiring lawyers and accountants to find extra tax shelters. In this regard, raising their rates would (theoretically) make them pay more, but the flat tax would take away cheating altogether.

  3. When will candidates such as George Pataki (for the Republicans) or Lincoln Chaffee (for the Democratics) be added in? Just wondering since candidates like Schweitzer and Martinez are in the game yet they have officially stated they won’t be running.

  4. Not sure if it’s a common issue but when I start the game from the primaries the speeches do not replenish. I also do not get the option to pick the party block grant or not.

  5. I never tried it before so I am not sure if it worked before or anything. I did go in and confirm with the xml file that the general election in each region was set to PR and not FPP.

I am trying to find a more realistic way to model state level races with just a popular vote. (would be nice to have that option anyhow to just have a popular vote)

  6. Some primaries, for the Republicans at least, have it where if you get to 50%, you get all the delegates in the state. Is it possible to replicate this in the game?

  7. @Anthony

Can you make it able to change the position we are running for in the game? 🙂 It always reads President, although we have some gubernatorial elections and Senate elections yet…

  8. @Luki,

I haven’t tested this, but you can go into the scenario.xml file and change the “position” variable that is set to “President” for the PI official campaigns.

  9. Still getting the “unable to write to specified saved game” error, and always after the Iowa primaries the game crashes with the “out of memory” error.

  10. @Marcus,

I’ve been trying to replicate these bugs, but haven’t been able to yet. Does this always happen for you? If so, can you tell me the candidate you are playing, and whether you have 7 days per turn or 1 day per turn on?

  11. For the editor, if you remove a region, could it be set to remove the endorsers from that region as well. That would make editing a lot easier.

  12. @Anthony

Can you make it an optional feature to have a running mate? It is not a big issue, but I’d like to know your opinion on that.

  13. I don’t think anyone should be an endorser unless they are donated a lot of cash—George Soros–Koch Brothers range–, or if they will actively campaign for them nationwide. I guess also, if they have a national influence, like the media. Peyton Manning would only really help a select portion of football demographic and lovers of Papa Johns.

  14. @Luki,

Making running mates optional can be done – I’ve noted it, but if it happens it probably won’t be for awhile.

  15. @Anthony

Ok thanks, it would be cool for the new scenarios. But it doesn’t have a tremendous impact, so take your time. 🙂

    @Jonathan

You might be right, but anyway I just wanted to mention it 😀

  16. @Malkavian,

Pataki and Chafee are on the to-do list. Some candidates were added well before anyone formally declared, such as Schweitzer and Martinez.

The problem with speeches not replenishing and the block grant not being offered going into the general election occurs when I play with Hillary Clinton. It’s always an issue for me. It began a few updates ago.

  18. I havent played this game for a while, played it today and found it unrealistic. I played as Hillary, the primaries where OK, but when I got to the general I was 20% down in the polls and needed approx 200 extra EC votes. I set about trying to win (which I did) but I won with entirely unrealistic states. I lost Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island but won Arizona, Missouri, Georgia, North Carolina. Fundraising did not either make sense and I did not raise even half the amount Obama or Romney did in 2012, that is with almost daily fundraisers in the bigger states, AI raised less than 2-3rds of what I did. I could not see if the AI had ads up either.

When will this game get more realistic?

  19. @RO,

Game is continually getting more realistic. AI algorithms for ad spending have been improved over the last few months. The issue you are talking about with general election %s being unrealistic coming from the primaries is one I’m aware of – it will be the focus of an upcoming release. Thanks for this.
