  1. Good improvements.
Endorser positions ought to be Times 5, Daily Mail 5, Express 6, Daily Star 6.
Since polling is weekly, perhaps the percentage and seat change figures ought to remain until the next poll, instead of disappearing the day after the poll.
The Tracking Poll panel is not very clear in the British game. Perhaps the lines should be bigger and bolder, or perhaps the y-axis should scale to the 10th percentage above that of the largest party.

  2. I think the Express and the Star should have Right for endorser positions.
(Although I may be a little biased) the incumbent Conservative candidate for Dewsbury, Simon Reevel, is a very weak candidate as he’s barely even part time, whilst the Labour candidate is known as being a strong candidate (to those who know her).
I agree with the comments of EPG in relation to the tracking poll. If you were able to take the scale down to a 10th percentage above that of the largest party, as suggested above that would be a very good.
The game’s good so far, I’m looking forward to the finished product!

  3. I was just wandering, will there be something at the end of the game that will make it worth while winning the seats, I was thinking of something along the lines of negotiating to create a coalition at the end of the game. I’m only asking this because the ending seems a bit flat and an anti climax with a message saying no one has an overall majority etc and then another about quitting.

For me this lets this great game down a bit.

  4. I am unable to save a game – had this with versions 1.8.7 and 1.8.8. The error message is “File not saved! Must save game to default folder”. I am in the save file folder and have tried several different locations.

I enjoyed playing the game. I would like it clearer on selecting advertising – in addition to targeted seats and all seats (all 650) could you add an option to advertise in an entire region?

Also on election night when the results are all in would it be possible to actually see individual seats, and not just regions. That way the player can tell if their targeting and other efforts to win a particular seat were successful.

Overall a very good game and robust.

  5. @Guy Atherton,

Thanks for this feedback – I’ve noted the problem with saving a game.

I’ll look at advertising by region – this should be relatively straightforward to implement.

Suggestion noted about election night – you should already be able to do this by clicking and then clicking again, but there might be a bug – I will double-check.

  6. I agree with the following:
-To be able to view individual constituency results on election night
-To be able to form Coalitions or choose to rule as a minority at the end of the game (or be involved in forming government as a ‘king maker’)

    Would like to suggest:
-Will other minor parties be involved? (ie. Respect? a separate Scottish Greens? for the lols BNP?)
-The desktop icon is still the American flag and some backgrounds, the Whitehouse which I guess is leftover from the Presidential version.
-I think the negotiations aspect is also still from the US version.

Played the 2010 version, enjoy this series very much!

  7. @James,

    Thanks for this!

No more minor parties are planned for now. Respect’s Galloway (and perhaps others) will be included under the ‘Independents’ label for now. Later on, we might add some more – we’ll see.

Icon and background graphics should be changed for the next version.

I’ll look at the negotiating – thanks.

  8. @EPG,

That is a good idea about the tracking poll panel. I’ll look at how easy that would be to do.

Thanks for the other suggestions – both noted.

  9. has the game been actually released, or is it still pre ordered, and if so, has the 200 person limit been reached. when will it actually be released?

  10. @MA,

The game is being released on a weekly basis. People who pre-order get it at the next release (so, if a person pre-ordered on Feb 10, say, they received it for the Feb. 15 release). It is still not an official release.

  11. Its too easy to “win” as a regional party, such as the SNP, compared to a national party, partly because it is easier to concentrate on just Scotland (in this case).

The same applies to endorsers. These need to be regional (if newspapers) – there are not going to be many constituency-specific newspapers (or anything)! Scotland has its own press, by and large. Regional press in Wales and Northern Ireland is also far more important that England. Note that the Metro is a London-only paper.

Additionally advertising needs to have something in between “UK” and individual constituencies. SNP, for example, will only want to advertise in Scotland.

Have you looked at PPBs (Party Political Broadcasts)? IIRC any party standing in 50 or more seats gets one on TV, but other parties get more up to 4/5 for main parties. There are also PPBs on radio though these are far less effective.

Daily press conferences would also be another way to have an influence what is discussed that day.

  12. @John,

Thanks for this – feedback about winning as regional party noted.

There will be regional endorsers added in an upcoming update.

I’ll also look at adding a regional option for advertising.

Thanks for the information on PPB’s. A daily press conference is a good idea – we’ll see.

  13. Finally, does the preorder include scenarios like 2010 or 1992? And when the game comes out, do I have to but it again, or will we get it?

  14. The current PMI – U.K. only has 2015. No plans on historical campaigns like 2010 or 1992 as of yet.

You get all updates to the game engine once the game is released.

  15. Currently, the game informs you that no one has a majority. I’ll be looking at a coalition feature for future releases.

  16. For the post-election feature it’s important to remember that there are four options:

    -single party majority government
    -single party minority government
    -multi party majority coalition
    -multi party minority coalition

Whilst minority government of either form are unstable, they are still technically possible and have happened in the past.

  17. Also, I thought I’d flag up a personal preference as a constituent of Eltham. It’s currently listed in ‘Outer London’ even though it’s part of Greenwich Borough, which is considered an inner London Borough. This might be the case for some other constituencies in London on the map? Perhaps Inner and Outer London would be easier than Central and Outer London because it would allow you to lump all the ‘Inner’ London borough constituencies in Inner and the same for Outer?

Not a massive point I realise! Just my OCD.

  18. @Michael,

Thanks for this – yes, it could get tricky.

    @James,

Thank you for this feedback. I’ll take a look at the inner-outer London boroughs, and might make adjustments where applicable.

  19. Greetings all,

Anyone who still has the Tcanvasd2d texture error, I may have found a possible fix on Vista 32bit.

Under application properties I have disabled visual themes, desktop composition and display scaling on high dpi settings.

It works but feels a little sluggish (though this may well be due to it being an early beta).

  20. @Paul,

Thanks for this – I’ve noted it, and will add it to the game info pages if anyone is trying to play and receiving that error.

  21. Once the election is over is that the end of the game or do you carry on towards another election?

  22. @Al,

It would be interesting to have a mode where one could play election after election, with each one affecting the next within certain bounds. The idea is noted – we’ll see.
